Instagram + Project Life

I have a self confessed instagram obsession - absolutely love it! When I'm rounding up my pictures of the week for Project Life, I always look back over my instagrams too. I love incorporating them into my album because they are so representative of the day-by-day for me. Sometimes, I re-size them to fit in the usual pockets. This week I had so many photos in addition to my "grams" that I decided to print them as mini pics and make a special insert for them.

To make something similar, you will want to print your pictures out as 2x2s. I do this in Picasa, first select six photos, then click "create" in the toolbar at the top and select "picture collage". For the collage settings, use 4x6 for the canvas size and grid layout. This should place all six of your photos side by side. Save the image and print as a 4x6. Next is the fun part! Cut them up and play with your paper until you make something fabulous! For journaling, I just wrote the the original captions underneath. Happy crafting!

Project Life - Playing Catch Up

The end of summer and our trip to Europe turned into a giant whirlwind. I've been trying to get caught up with Project Life and I'm getting a little closer. I've got more pictures to pick up at Costco. I haven't posted any pictures of my weeks for a while so I thought I'd share today. I've been trying to keep it pretty simple but occasionally having been throwing some new things in to keep it interesting. I haven't been doing any traditional scrapbooking for last few months, I'm hoping to have time to make some regular layouts this winter. But for now, getting caught up is the name of the game.

Week: July 29th - Aug 4th

Week: August 5th - 11th

Close up of this week's insert. The photo grid from the blog post is on the front and the text is on the back.

Second page of this week's spread.

Week: August 12th - 18th. First page

Second page. Still need to pick up the photo booth pics.

Week: August 19th - 25th. Insert this week is Joe's birthday card.

Week: August 26th - Sept 1st
Well, that's it for now. Getting closer! I'm planning on combining the two weeks that we were in Europe together, since I already have a *Smash book with all my journaling and I'm planning to make a photo book with all our pictures too.

Experimenting Again.

I really have enough stuff especially when it comes to craft supplies. But then I get it in my head that I need  something else. This time, it was watercolors, white embossing powder and teal pigment ink. So what do you know, I magically found myself at Michael's yesterday. And I came home with this. I also found some cool stamps in the dollar bin. Chevron stamp for $1, definitely had to get, they're crazy expensive at places like Impress. Dollar bins for the win! Also found the perfect color teal ink in the dollar bin. They didn't even have teal in the "expensive" section.
Tonight, I got home and was feeling inspired (by my clean desk) and finished another week of project life. Getting closer to being caught up! Yay!! Had fun experimenting with the watercolors on the top left card. I'm not sure my test audience loved it but I thought it was fantastic for a first try. Good enough to throw in the book and not into the trash anyways.
Time to order more pics, fold laundry, and get some sleep. Back for a five day stretch tomorrow... But not without a quick pic of my reorganized desk.
Love my "new" stamp organizer and having a spot for my Project Life album. There is an entire box of stuff on the floor that used to be on my desk that needs a new home. The whole object this time was to get rid of stuff that didn't need to be there and for only things that get used all the time to be in sight. Everything else to be tucked away in a somewhat organized fashion. I'm feeling the whole less is more these days. (Still looks like a lot though), there's always room for progress :)

Project Life Update

Little late I know... well my intentions were good. I'll keep working on it. At least I'm staying relatively caught up! Still loving this project, its so much fun to work on and I can't wait until several months go by and I can flip through and get a snapshot of what we've been up to! It has been a little bittersweet with everything going on, but I will say, it has been helping focus on the positive things, which is good for me.

June 17 - 23: Two inserts this week (eek!) but it was my vacation week after all and the first official week of summer. So naturally, lots of pictures! And I had to include my summer manifesto too. Its on the back of the "Summer of 2012" page.
June 24 - 30: This week is just the regular two page spread. Had fun using some of my new stuff! Used lots of washi tape! Also made some of my own stickers again, the circle on the upper left and the heart on the lighting picture. Didn't have tons of photos this week, because I worked a ton! Decided to use the bottom row to add my photo-a-day instagram pictures (they aren't the best pics but I'm ok with that).

Project Life: June 3-9 & June 10-16

Got caught up with my project life book last night, still continuing to find reasons to love this project! (Jenn, you were so right!) I don't know why I have a tendency to hold out so long on certain things. Now, I need to stop buying stuff for it! I ordered the big packet of page protectors and the clementine album a few days ago. I was hoping to get the grid cards but its looking like they will be out of stock for awhile. The core kits are also out of stock but I've decided to just make my own "kit" to try to make a dent in my stash. I've decided I officially have a "paper problem". I've got a bunch of other goodies on the way too, will share some pics once they arrive. I've decided to try doing a weekly blog post on Mondays or Tuesdays with my pages to keep me procrastinating ;)
June 3-9
Had fun making my own "his" and "hers" stickers. Also loving my new little label maker!

Had to add the chopstick instructions from the sushi place :)

First insert, front and back. Map from the visitor center and camping pictures! Used up some old stickers!

June 10 - 16. Inserted Hannah's invitation using an 8.5 x 11 page protector, stitched around invite, couple extra zigzags and cut off the excess. Extra stitching was primarily to keep the invite centered, also like the texture that it added.
This week is totally out of chronological order, the first column of pics are all from Seattle, 2nd column from Spokane and the other page is all from Hannah's graduation party. Like having the freedom to just put things where they work and not get to serious about it all being in exact order.
Mostly pictures here, I've been using Picasa to make 4x6 size "collages" of two vertical pictures which works out fantastic for printing but takes a little extra time. Letter stickers are both from AC, Dear Lizzy line, other labels are Martha Stewert. The stamp was in the dollar bin at Michaels.

Week One

Hopefully will have week two done soon, have all the pics printed out and cut up, will probably have to make my first insert too for our little camping trip. Thought I would share week one though. Having fun so far! It's great getting pics printed out and into something so quickly! Hope everyone is having a good week. We're having lots of rain and thunder and lightening storms the last few days. Looking forward to seeing some friends soon, summer plans and getting a new mattress! We ordered a TemperPedic, eek! that was expensive, but hopefully will be sleeping good and maybe feeling better soon.

Project Life

Yikes! I can't believe I'm actually starting project life... so exciting! My friend Jenn finally talked me into it over Memorial Day weekend. Seems like a good time to start, the first half of the year was a little rocky, but that's over and I'm looking forward to the rest of 2012! I like how project life lets you "scrapbook the little things" which is hard to do with the regular 12x12 format. It will be so cool to see seven months of daily life all together in an album at the end of the year!

I finished the cover page today, cover pages are always a little intimidating, so it took me a little while to figure it out. I'm really happy with how it turned out. I was inspired by Jenn's and Elise Blaha's cover pages. For the rest of the book, I'm not planning for it be that detailed. Just get it in there. It will be a challenge from my usual slow mode of scrapbooking.

I'm enjoying a lazy "saturday". Hoping to finish week 1 soon!
