Wisteria Knock Off

I've finally completed my organizer-frame-thing project, for lack of a better name. They had a really cute thing similar to this for sale at wisteria. I thought to myself, I could make that... and now it's done.

Put a cork in it...

Joe and I have been finding ourselves doing a lot of things with cork in the last week from a new cork board "wall" above Joe's desk for hanging prints of his photos, to a new cork board in the kitchen cabinet to a large cork coaster for the "cold beverage dispenser" that we got at World Market.

New cork board in the kitchen, inspiration from Young House Love, my new favorite blog! They have the best home ideas and they know what a budget is (which is super cool and helpful!).

Bottle cap tacks I made for the kitchen.

New cold beverage dispenser (got it for $15 on sale), a steal compared to the $50 version at Crate and Barrel.

Sea glass and candle centerpiece in the dining room to match my new placemats (also from World Market).

And a summery lime pix :)

Madeleines

I love madeleines, those delicious little French cookies. I haven't busted out my madeleine pan for awhile so I decided to make some for the night shift crew as a going away present. Usually I bring food to work that Joe doesn't like, in lieu of throwing it away when it goes bad. So instead, I decided to bring one of Joe's favorites. (I left a few at home for him)

A Big Thanks

to Jenna and Tanya over at Percolating Projects! I was the lucky winner of their first giveaway!! And am now waiting for this in the mail :) Tanya is in nursing school right now, so she obviously understands the importance of caffeine!

And thanks to their how to tutorial on topiarys, I finally finished mine.

And for the very latest project, we've taken on the "office" upstairs, yesterday we moved Joe's desk to the other wall creating his very own "mega-desk". But that left a jumble of wires for the server and internet sitting out in the open. ....sooo, we've moved my newly handed down sewing machine desk over there and I made a skirt type thing to cover all the mess.

Starting the process, measuring out the fabric. In case you can't tell, I'm a very inexperienced sewer and probably found the hardest way to do this.

The finished product, with sewing machine installed inside to boot - with Joe's help of course!

And the mess that's hiding underneath, you can't even see all the wires behind the server in this picture.

More before and after pictures once we finish up the rest of the room!

Pretty in Pink

Inspired by so many pictures of pretty pink flowers, I picked up a bunch of carnations at the grocery store a few days back. I'm usually not a "pink" type of girl but right now it feels very springy and happy! So my humble little blog got a face lift since the snowboarding season is over, the winter decorations are down and spring is on its way!

A few things that have been making me happy recently...

My birdie took her first bath in the sink - of her own initiative ;)
My little bro came home to visit from SoCal for a friend's wedding.
Good friends in town for the wedding! Peter and Hannah stayed with us again.
Scrapbooking with Jenn!
Having the house to myself (and the computer) at the moment
The most delicious fish tacos EVER that Joe made for dinner the other night, I'm still drooling!
Actually making some progress on the heaps and heaps of "projects" I've started around here.
Only 3 night shifts left!

My lovely carnations!

FINALLY, finished this mail basket I got a Ross months ago, with Jewelry Box Thickers.
... and my first magazine from Country Living inside!

Everyone over at the house over the weekend!

My bro and the guys!

All the fixings for bee bim bop, Joe made it for dinner on Saturday!
