Enjoying Winter

Its been a little while... anyways, a few things I've been enjoying recently.
The Nine Emotional Lives of a Cat - really good book, interesting read.

Snowflake hurricanes from Crate & Barrel that Joe bought me :)

Fuzzy winter boots - no more cold wet feet!

Sunset outside our house
All the grandkids with grandma at Thanksgiving

Malcolm watching the snow fall outside the window.

Mrs. Meyers... this stuff smells amazing. Almost makes you want to clean.

Outside the XC ski lodge @Mt Spokane with my mom and lil sister.
Birthday party for my best friend Jenn

Scrapbooking and watching Lois and Clark from the 90s. So hilarious...
Giant "man-cake" for Joey.

Wintery Feeling Day

Despite feeling 50% today, its been a pretty good day so far. Eastern Washington is surprisingly beautiful this morning, despite the initial bleak appearance. There are little skiffs of snow in places, and little pink and orange bushes brightening things up a little. I had a happy meal for lunch, which made me feel about 20 years younger and now Joe and I are enjoying some S-Bucks on the road, they have the very cheery holiday cups out now... I'm not sure why a red cup with snowflakes and people wearing scarfs makes me happy. One of these days, I'll put up a ridiculously long post with photo-of-the-day updates.
Have a very merry weekend everyone!

October 11 - Mushrooms in our front yard, I came home from work for lunch that day and snapped this. The VA Cafeteria is closed on Holidays and Weekends. Does anyone pay attention to Columbus Day? I never remember...

October 12 - Mal's food bowl that I fill up before leaving for work. It reminds me of eating off of my Grandma's blue china, you don't get to see the picture until you eat your food!

October 13 - The Finished Sidewalk! No more worrying about twisted ankles, possible broken legs or concussions.

October 14 - The best Cherry Apple Cider from Hanson's at Greenbluff, love this stuff!

October 15 - Tiff and I made apple butter, it's a 24hr process - here's the after photo - all finished, canned and "gift wrapped".

October 16 - African Daisy in the flower box out front, the frost is starting to take most of the flowers.
October 17 - Kitty rolling on the kitchen floor. Despite his mischievousness, he is probably one of the best things that has happened to us so far in 2010.

October 18 - Amy came over to learn how to make pie crust, we made 2 apple pies and a pecan pie. Lattice crusts are difficult, I always cheat and just overlap the pieces.

October 19 - New Plants for out front, I don't remember all their names. I should start a little folder to write all that stuff down. The gal who helped us pick them out is the owner of Judy's on Northwest Blvd - she is super helpful! Yay for sales and clearance plants at the end of the season!

October 20 - Malcom watching House MD with us

October 21 - Country Living Magazine, I love getting things besides bills in the mail!

October 6th - We have steps out front again!!
October 7th - My prize for finishing my exercise chart... whatever gets you motivated I say, it worked when I was two and it still works now.
October 8th - early birthday presents!
October 9th - I admit to cheating on this one, Joe took the picture with Jenn's camera, I just couldn't get the coloring even close with mine.
October 10th - Close up of a scrapbook page, nice to ignore the housework and just have a lazy Sunday!

Free and Cheap, My 2 Favorite Prices

October 5, 2010 - Starbucks to go, plus a mini Carmel Via sample! for free!

My latest thrift store find, this little chair was only $7.99, now I just need to repaint it and cover it with a more visually pleasing fabric :)

Yard Updates

Before the sod - looking very, very brown...

Two of the five pallets of sod that were delivered - Joe and I moved almost all of this by ourselves. My folks showed up and helped out with the last 1/2 pallet or so. We could hardly move the next day...

Putting down that 1st piece

Insta-lawn in progress

About a week later.... ahhh, so much better!

The day we moved in, actually maybe even before that, we new that the yellow paint would be going away. What we can't figure out is what took us so long to get around to actually painting it. Finally decided to go for it yesterday! Here's some evidence...

Before Photos
Living room all cleaned up

Dining Room - with new chairs (finally)

Work in Progress Shots

This one is as close as it gets to the actual color, not capturing well on camera at night.

You can kind of see the accent color in this one, under the arch.

Parting Shot of the Night

This is the current state of affairs. Not everything is back up on the walls yet. May switch a few things around and still need to hang the curtains, so more pictures later when everything is completely finished.
